“We were inspired by the interwoven twigs of birds’ nest - a form that supports and steadies itself” says Vancouverite Gerry Epp, the structural engineer for the temporary wall. It was with this inspiration that Canadian architect Bing Thom and engineer Gerry Epp joined forces to showcase a new and unexpected design innovation using wood from British Columbia. “This is not yet a commercial product, but rather an all-new invention meant to demonstrate the new possibilities of wood, and the wave of creativity spreading out from Vancouver right now,” adds Fellow Vancouverite and Hong Kong born Bing Thom.
